Should teenagers learn more about managing money?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-43907908

We have discussed the import of educating young people about health issues, but I wonder what you thought about this article on money management?

I quite like the phrase 'financial literacy'.

Comments welcome as always.

Cheers,

Mark

Well done everybody - the Kass is now in the bag!

Congrats to every member of the class as you have now all passed the Sam Kass assessment.

I had a wide variety of responses and interpretation of the talk and the work overall was of a very good standard indeed.

A great way to end the week.

I will see you all next Friday and the room (1015) is actually a really good one as there are circular tables.

We are there 4/5, 11/5 and 18/5. 25th May is a holiday.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Friday Deadline!

Hello all,

Thank you to those members of the class who have already submitted their Kass reflections, and well done to those of you who have passed that assessment.

The standard of work has been very good, and so varied, so this has made my marking pretty straightforward.

Please remember to number your answers, and we still have time in the class on Friday to complete the task.

I have replied to everybody so far at time of writing (Tuesday at 10.45 am), so if you haven't received anything, you can be certain it hasn't reached its destination!

All the best,

Mark

Room Change - please note!

Hello all,

I have been informed that on the Fridays of 27/4, 4/5, 11/5 and 18/5 that we have been decanted to room 1015. This is to accommodate the SQA National 5 and Highers exams.

Could somebody please make sure ALL members of the class are made aware of the temporary changes (and let me know that this has been done)?

Many thanks,

Mark

Welcome back

Hello all,

I hope you all had a lovely break and were able to relax.

Thank you to Nicola who informed me that I won't see (m)any of you on Friday as you are all out of College. I hadn't been notified so I was grateful to have that info.

For those of you who have completed their Listening assessment answers, I will attend to that on Tuesday. Any others that come in after Tuesday I will mark as priority for you and e mail you with feedback.

If you are writing your answers, remember that the deadline Friday 27th April and there will be time in class (Sam Klass) to work on it should you wish.

I will turn the marking around as quick as I can as always and don't foresee any problems.

On Friday 4th May I will go over the three remaining assessments (the integrated report, essay free choice and the discussion listening).

I have put two documents together for that session: 1) a booklet with the assessments and 2) a booklet with lots of handy hints, exemplar material etc. Some of that info will be of help to you in your further study which I thought was important for you.

On Friday 8th June I will hold one final class where we will look at the journey you have been on, reflect on your learning, how you feel you have progressed, look at the next step and discuss everything we have done. I will post a final reflective post before that session where I will be looking for as many of the class members to add a note into the comments section prior to us all meeting up.

All the best, and if I don't see you in passing next week, I will see you on Friday 27th April.

Have a lovely rest of the weekend.

Mark
