Should teenagers learn more about managing money?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-43907908

We have discussed the import of educating young people about health issues, but I wonder what you thought about this article on money management?

I quite like the phrase 'financial literacy'.

Comments welcome as always.

Cheers,

  1. I don't particularly like talking about money and anyone who knows me will know I hate it, purely because I personally feel it defines who you are and what you can and can't do. However we all need money in order to live and so it is a good idea to have a specific teaching for managing money and how the world goes round. I specifically remember attending a class like this at high school but my children haven't? My son is very wise with money but he has a keen interest in all things financial in the world and it comes with his job too, however much as I try to inform my daughter I do worry.

  2. Thank you for your comments as always Nicola. I think that the issue is an important one, and I take on board what you are saying. It is a fine line between scaring and necessity I guess. Sadly we all have to deal with the issue of money management somehow of course.
