This is how Facebook's shut-down AI robots developed their own language – and why it's more common than you think

Above you will see a link to the article that Bryoni mentioned in Friday's class. It is certainly worth a look and might stimulate some discussion in the comments section!

  1. There is something odd about the whole robot creating their own language scenario.
I understand what the writer is saying in the sense that there is already different types of formatted language out there for robots but it just makes me think "that's not right."

Very "I, Robot"...or that's what it makes me think of.

  2. An interesting read, just not sure about it all. It will spill into society before we no it its bad enough the way young people talk to each other at the moment with shortened words and emoji pictures. Or even worse the very young joining in, my 7 year old has an american accent because of Nickelodeon and Disney channels!

  5. I find it all very scary and all I can think of in this scenario is Skynet from Terminator.

  6. Indeed, it does beg the question whatever next. I have some Engineering students who are examining issues for me and the areas of research are the driverless car and the possibility of robots taking jobs away from humans. Both interesting questions.
